Starting your Day Well….

Set your intention.

Have you ever gotten out of bed and felt like today was going to be yet another difficult and tiresome day?

I did for years… I use to go to bed late and drag myself out of bed in the morning, just in time to get the kids off to school and then go through the day on auto pilot.. Thankgod that was years ago and now my life is much simpler and not because I don’t have school children but because I found mindfulness and meditation.

You may be thinking ..” I can’t do that meditation thing! I can’t turn off my brain.”

I used to think that too .. Really there are so many simple techniques that help slow down the brain and allow the rest to follow..

My way is not for everyone so you need to explore your own way of setting up your morning routine if you want to become more mindful and slow that overactive brain down.

Each morning I wake slowly by practicing a Gratitude routine..

3 things I Feel grateful, such as;

*I feel grateful for my legs so that I get to walk today

*I feel grateful that I can see the sun shining through my window.

*I feel grateful for this comfy and warm bed I get to sleep in.

Next, I take a minute and breath deeply 3 times, in through the nose and out through the mouth.

lastly, I slowly move my body and stretch to welcome the day with an intention of how I want to approach the day, either with positivity, gratefulness, or hope.

On most days this works for me .. somedays it doesn’t .. However, I see those days as learning more about myself and recognizing that it’s OK to not be Ok too….
