What is Couples Therapy?

It is a form of Psychotherapy that can support you and your partner to form a more rewarding and sustainable connection with one another..

It uses humanistic or interpersonal approach in enhancing personal growth, healing and self discovery.  It’s about knowing that your physical, emotional , mental and spiritual self are all essential to look at when engaging with a therapist. As a holistic psychotherapist, I look at the connection between mind, body and spirit to promote peace and wellness.

My Approach & How I Can Help

  • Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

EFT is an alternative therapy that uses your fingers to tap on the body where the acupuncture points are to calm the mind and body.

You can use this technique at home and is extremely beneficial for those wanting to release those stuck and persistent negative emotions in the body.

Some clients receive benefits straight away and others take a few sessions to learn and apply to see the amazing results.

  • Couples Counseling

Gottman Method Couples Therapy is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory. Focus is on three primary areas: friendship, conflict management, and creation of shared meaning. Couples learn to replace negative conflict patterns with positive interactions and to repair past hurts and are designed to increase closeness and intimacy are used to improve friendship, deepen emotional connection, and create changes which enhances the couples shared goals.

  • Trauma Informed For Individuals

Empowering and creating a safe and healing space to build on your own strengths and skills seeks to avoid the re-traumatisation of your own past experiences.

People living with mental health conditions that have experienced trauma, impact their emotions and relationships with others.

Survivors that have suffered from childhood trauma, bullying, serious accidents or COVID - 19 along with so many other traumatic events are able to use the methods we teach for improvement in their overall wellbeing.

  • Mindfulness & Meditation

The goal of mindfulness is to wake up to the inner workings of our mental, emotional, and physical processes.. When we are better able to do that, we can engage with those aspects of ourselves, learn to adjust our language, and choose how to respond.

Meditation is a mind and body practice that has a long history of use for increasing calmness and physical relaxation, improving psychological balance, coping with illness, and enhancing overall health and well-being.

  • Neuroplasticity

When individuals in therapy learn new coping skills, they are literally building the neural connections that promote resilience.

I use tools to show my clients how with creating new habits , we can really change those networks in your brain to create a more fulfilling and rewarding life.

  • Life Threatening Illnesses

When faced with a life-threatening illness, the safety and nurturing of being heard and having your own voice are paramount. Therapy can support you to feel more connected to your deep fears, grief and loss while finding some sense of peace throughout the turmoil.

Cancer and Autoimmune disease have been a part of my own personal experiences so I recognise how you may be feeling and how the struggle is so difficult. Supporting you to find your own ways to manage your situation by enhancing relationships, journaling, things that bring you joy and much more.

Above all.. the caring , nurturing and real deep listening is essential when your so fragile.

  • Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a form of psychotherapy in which the subconscious mind is accessed and changed to solve problems such as coping with stress and breaking bad habits.. It helps you transform deep-seated thinking patterns, behaviors, and emotions that are stored in your subconscious mind and influence different areas of your life.

It can help you address a wide range of physical and psychological issues like stress, anxiety, depression, weight loss, addictions to smoking, drinking, gambling and so much more.

A great way to expel the Fears of Public Speaking and to help navigate your way through the HSC.

What people are saying

  • “I found going to see Sandy was very useful in my healing process. I use to be fearful and frightened of everything in my life. Sandy has helped me to use coping skills and understand my feelings .

I have had Hypnotherapy with Sandy too using the ‘Swish” technique and this helped me gain confidence to leave home after isolating for months to start living life.

I’ve started believing in myself, learnt to communicate better and to enjoy my life. I have lost my fear of everything.

How can you be mentally unwell seeing a lady called Sandy Beech :) ”

    — Daniela W

  • “Since the difficult birth of my son in 2002 I’ve lived with constant low level anxiety-described as butterflies in my stomach. This physical feeling would intensify and reduce, but never entirely leave.

So for over 18 years , I’ve lived with a degree of agitation. As part of psychotherapy support with Sandy, she suggested hypnotherapy.  While I hoped for a reduction in the symptoms, I wasn’t expecting much.

Now 3 months later, I continue to be symptom free. The outcome was unexpected and has completely exceeded my expectations.

The experience was easy, I felt secure at every stage and am delighted and relieved with the outcome.”

  • "Whilst I knew my husband and I loved each other deeply we were having some major communication issues!

I had been to other counsellors before, but I found Sandy extremely beneficial especially for myself, and my partner. There was never any blame as she taught us a practical and easy method of expressing our thoughts, feelings and experiences about each other, removing the ‘heat and emotion’ from our conflicts. Sandy had an amazing capacity to share what we were feeling in a welcoming and safe environment, always making us feel at ease with her, and with each other. This allowed us to freely express ourselves and the concerns or issues we had with each other. It was so great to get thingsoff our chest and learn what actually was upsetting for each other!

When we had a little life hiccough we went back again and quickly resolved the problem. We both are happier, speak more freely in our relationship and can settle can problems as they arise.

Thanks so much Sandy for your clear advice, empathy, understanding and ability to enhance our relationship, we are so grateful.”

Sandy Beech

Registered Holistic Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Hypnotherapist

Sandy lives and works in Jervis Bay, South Coast of NSW, and is deeply grateful and excited to take you on a journey of self-exploration and healing.

Sandy specializes in Anxiety and Communication challenges and how to empower yourself with the tools and techniques taught in her safe and nonjudgmental space.

She has spent the last 20 years on a personal and professional journey understanding and exploring her own deep beliefs and patterns. She finds herself extremely interested in the human mind and body and how we are so interconnected, however, have such discord within that holds us back from truly expressing our individualism.

Sandy’s own personal journey has had its fair share of illnesses with an Autimone disease called “Graves” diagnosed back in 2003 and then Breast Cancer in 2012. She found that by going with the changes, pain, and deep deep grief, she was able to manage her emotions more effectively. She began my own therapy, meditation, and mindfulness practices and also began seeing a traditional Chinese practitioner for acupuncture and herbs. The Chemotherapy and Radiation were challenging and Sandy remembers feeling like she had no real control and dread that she just couldn’t shake. Sandy has come out the other side now, however, still has her own challenges that always seem to come at her when she least expects them. Sandy is more prepared now and has so many resources within her to ground and acknowledge that “this too shall pass” …

Quest For Life Foundation in Bundanoon has been such a gift over the 8 years Sandy has worked there as a support and then the counsellor. She has been a part of large groups of people who suffer from childhood trauma, PTSD, depression and much more, that have left after the 5 day retreats restored and hopeful once more. It’s such an incredible experience to watch and be involved in, that sandy highly recommends enquiring if you are looking for a place to heal. Sandy is now also, one of the facilitators at Quest and looks forward to many more programs in the future.

Finally, Sandy really recognizes the courage it can take to seek support or walk into a therapy room or click into a video session, so she thanks you for taking the time to focus on yourself….

Sandy offers you compassion and a non-judgemental space of acceptance to find your own answers and peace in the midst of chaos.
